Allain Duhangan

Construction site at the Allain Duhangan project in India

SN Power entered the Indian market in 2004 and is still the only foreign investor in the hydropower sector. The objective is to become a significant independent power producer in India over the next few years.

SN Power entered the Indian power market in 2004 when it acquired 49 per cent of the shares in Malana Power Company Limited (MPCL), where Indian LNJ Bhilwara Group is the majority owner. SN Power is currently involved at two significant hydropower plants in India - Malana and Allain Duhangan, and is the only foreign investor to enter the hydropower sector.

SN Power has an exclusive partnership agreement with Tata Power to jointly develop hydropower projects in the region. Together, the two companies currently hold the licence for the 250 MW / 1180 GWh Dugar Greenfield project in the state of Himachal Pradesh. The feasibility of the project is currently investigated and potential construction is planned to be in 2015.
