Accident on transmission line in India

March 11th An employee of a subcontractor at the Allain Duhangan hydro power project working on the transmission line was descending from a transmission tower, when he fell from the tower suffering a head injury, which later led to his death.


The accident happened on Monday March 8th. The person was taken to hospital, where he was confirmed dead later the same day. It is known that he was wearing personal protection equipment. Safety equipment at the tower was also in place.
 
SN Power’s senior management immediately went to the site when the accident was known. SN Power has asked for the work on the transmission line to be stopped until the accident investigation is concluded and need for remedial action identified. A full investigation is currently ongoing.

We are working continuously to strengthen the Health and Safety work at and around the Allain Duhangan site, and a proper investigation will look into whether the safety procedures have been adequately implemented.
 
SN Power has a 43 percent indirect ownership share in the Allain Duhangan run-of-river project (192 MW) while the Indian LNJ Bhilwara Group owns 45 per cent. The remaining 12 per cent is owned by the International Finance Corporation, the World Bank’s private sector arm. SN Power is owned jointly by Statkraft and Norfund.
