Arcata is a 5 MW run-of-river hydropower plant providing renewable energy to the grid in Peru.

The plant 

The hydro facilities of Arcata are located in the Arequipa region in Peru. They consist of four plants about 4.000 meters above sea levels that provide renewable energy to the main grid. SN Power gained ownership of the plant in 2003.

Operation

Since acquiring the plants SN Power has initiated a number of activities to optimize commercial and technical operation such as reparation of Huarahuarco Dam, refurbishment and improvement of existing facilities and reorganization of resources.

Sustainable development

Arcata employs a total of 18 staff, including three from local communities. Local non-skilled manpower is hired as necessary to perform maintenance and civil works under the company’s site management supervision.
