Yaupi

Yaupi

The Yaupi hydropower plant is SN Power Peru`s largest by capacity in the country. It is located at 1,328 m above sea level in the village of Yaupi.

The plant and operation

The water from the Paucartambo river, which supplies the plant, are taken at the Yuncan Intake. After passing the desander, the water is conveyed through a 12 km-long headrace channel up to the Valve Chamber. The tunnel ends in two penstocks that supply to the five units in the powerhouse.

Sustainable development

The Yaupi hydropower plant is located in the high jungle, in a remote and difficult-to-access area. As a result, SN Power provides medical attention to villagers from nearby communities in cases of emergency at the medical station located inside the plant. At the same time, SN Power provides educational support through the handing out of school supplies to educational entities during the school season in the local area, as well as presents to children as part of the Christmas activities.
