Corporate Social Responsibility Programs are integrated parts of all our projects

SN Power’s international business operations are often located in remote areas in developing countries. We recognise that power generation is a prerequisite for development, particularly in areas where modern power is unavailable or in acute shortage.

Responsible corporate citizen

As a responsible corporate citizen, SN Power considers ethical and social issues in parallel with business development and efficient resource management when developing our projects. In addition to employ mainly local people at all our sites and plants, we collaborate closely with local communities on programs designed to provide them with lasting social and economic benefits.

Regional successes

The Philippines

In the Philippines, SN Aboitiz Power has established a CSR Fund aimed at supporting reforestation, watershed protection, education and agricultural development in the communities surrounding the Magat hydropower plant. Among the projects, is a partnership with the Ifugao Provincial Government to look at a community based forest management plan. The plan is aimed at preserving the forest which forms part of the Magat watershed, and also at protecting the magnificent and vitally important Ifugao rice terraces.

India

In India, we work with our partner, LNJ Bhilwara Group, to support an income and livelihood improvement program called Upstream Opportunities and Downstream Benefits. The program helps local women and poor families achieve better long-term financial security by organizing them into saving and credit groups. It also provides an opportunity for women and the poor to participate in and benefit from a cooperative nursery, growing and selling high value medicinal plants and trees used for production of basic drugs and medicines.

Peru

In Peru, we are providing assistance to local authorities on the optimisation of water usage, a key element in sustainable agriculture and development. Through an Agreement of Inter Institutional Cooperation with Proyecto Especial Jequetepeque - Zaña, we are helping to improve operation of the Gallito Ciego dam and to optimise the water use from the Jequetepeque river basin.

Nepal

In Nepal, our subsidiary Himal Power Limited has carried out an extensive rural electrification programme, giving 4300 households access to electricity. In addition, infrastructure development, encouragement of small enterprise, and education and health programs have been implemented. When extending the program, Himal Power Limited works in partnership with UNDP Nepal.
