Community development
SN Power’s international business operations are often located in remote areas in developing countries. We recognise that power generation is a prerequisite for development, particularly in areas where modern power is unavailable or in acute shortage.
As a responsible corporate citizen, SN Power considers ethical and social issues in parallel with business development and efficient resource management when developing our projects. In addition to employ mainly local people at all our sites and plants, we collaborate closely with local communities on programs designed to provide them with lasting social and economic benefits.
Regional success in the Philippines
In the Philippines, SN Aboitiz Power (SNAP) has established a CSR Fund aimed at supporting reforestation, watershed protection, education and agricultural development in the communities surrounding the Magat hydropower plant. Among the projects, is a partnership with the Ifugao Provincial Government to look at a community based forest management plan. The plan is aimed at preserving the forest which forms part of the Magat watershed, and also at protecting the magnificent and vitally important Ifugao rice terraces.
